Israel-bound Hong Kong travellers
In view of the recent development in Israel and its surrounding areas, Hong Kong residents who plan to visit these areas should pay close attention to the situation there. Those who are already there should attend to their personal safety. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will keep a close liaison with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong and the Chinese Embassy in Israel to monitor the latest situation there.

Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868. The telephone numbers of the Chinese Embassy in Israel are: 00972-3-5442638 or 00972-52-8392699。

British Airways New Guidelines
From now on, tickets do not need to be reissued right after any flight and date change. Tickets can be reissued within 14 days after first changes made or 3 days before departure whichever is earlier. Details of conditions are listed as below.
 
- Changes must be made prior to departure date
- No duplicate booking is allowed
- Tickets must be reissued within 14 days of booking confirmation or 3 days before departure whichever is earlier; or ticket must be reissued immediately if a booking is changed within 3 days prior to date of departure
- Rebooking fee shall be collected at the time of ticket being reissued
- Failure to adhere to the above conditions may result in a rebooking fee of HKD350
- All other service fees and no show charges apply

Greece-bound/Thailand-bound Hong Kong travellers
Hong Kong residents who plan to visit Greece(in particular Athens) or Thailand(in particular Bangkok) should pay close attention to the situation there, and confirm their flight schedule and transport arrangements before their trip, a spokesman for the Security Bureau said on 15Dec2008. Hong Kong residents there should exercise caution and avoid places where there are protests or large gatherings of people.

TG Special Handling of Ticketing & Refund due to latest situation in Thailand
Rebooking & Extend of Ticket Validity
- Extend the validity of tickets with original date of travel 25Nov2008 and onward, up to 31Jan2009
- Revalidation fee will only be waived before original flight departure except for cases of TG flight cancellation
- Passengers have to pay fare difference when their new reservation involve blackout dates, restricted flights, stopover and higher booking class

Refund
- Full refund of tickets issued on/before 25Nov2008 for travel on/after 25Nov2008
- Full refund of tickets issued after 25Nov2008 for travel up to 18Dec2008
- Partial refund at 50% of the net paid amount for roundtrip tickets original booking to return from/via Thailand on/after 25Nov2008 and onward up to 18Dec2008 
- For passengers holding partially used of return sector, calculation of refund in proration will be applied
Please submit all these refund applications on/before 31Jan2009

Apply Travel Authorization Online for All Visa Waiver Program Countries
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that beginning 12Jan2009, eligible citizens or nationals from all Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries must obtain approval through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to travelling to the United States under the VWP.  Details please refer to the below web link and attached file.

Cathay Pacific & Dragonair Launch Mobile Flight Confirmation
Passengers checking in online on CathayPacific.com and Dragonair.com can now send a 2D barcode to a mobile device via SMS and/or email address. Upon arrival at the airport, the barcode can be scanned at the Self Check-in Kiosk to obtain a boarding pass, thus eliminating the need to bring a printed out confirmation. For those ports without kiosks, the mobile barcode can still be shown at the Self Check-in Bag Drop counter.

The mobile barcode allows the passengers to keep their complete itinerary on their mobile devices and has the added advantage of being completely paperless. For more information on mobile confirmation, please click Send Online Check-in Confirmation.
